Pro Bono Consulting Services

Silva Consultants donates a percentage of its billable time each year to provide free ("pro bono") security consulting services to qualified non-profit organizations and charities. This is our way of giving back to the community and provides professional security advice to organizations that could otherwise not afford it. Last year, over $50,000 in free security consulting services were provided to the community.

We are willing to consider requests from all non-profit groups, but give preference to the following:

  • Organizations that provide direct care services to the less fortunate, such as health care, food, shelter, mental health counseling, and job services.

  • Organizations with an annual gross income of less than one million dollars.

  • Independent local organizations that are not part of (or substantially funded by) a larger national or international non-profit group.

  • Organizations that are currently experiencing one or more serious security-related problems.

Every project performed on a pro bono basis receives the same degree of professional care that we give to our paying clients. Pro bono work is scheduled just like any other project, with firm dates given for our on-site project work, as well as for the delivery of any work product (reports, policies and procedures manuals, etc).

Pro bono projects in Western Washington State are performed entirely free of charge. For projects located outside of this area, we ask that the client pay only a stipend towards our travel expenses. We do not perform work on projects outside of the United States.

If your non-profit does not qualify for pro bono services, we still may be able to provide you assistance at a substantially reduced rate depending on your circumstances.

If your non-profit organization would like to be considered to receive pro bono or reduced rate security consulting services, please have the most senior member of your leadership team send us a written request.

We decide which pro bono projects to accept on a case by case basis at our sole discretion. We try to achieve a balance in the types of organizations that we serve, and may give priority to an organization that is in a category that we have not already helped. Understandably, we have to limit the number of pro bono projects we can take on each year and cannot honor every request.
